Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The author declares that the article does not exceed 20% similarity in the Turnitin® software and that he has included the mandatory declaration on the use of generative Artificial Intelligence tools, if he has used them.
  • The document is in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it under consideration by any other journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the Editor).
  • The uploaded file is strictly anonymous; names, acknowledgments, and any affiliation data have been omitted from both the text and the file properties to ensure blind peer review.
  • The manuscript includes title, abstract (150-300 words) and keywords (5-7 terms) written in both Spanish and English.
  • The body of the work is between 3,000 and 8,000 words long, excluding the abstract and the list of bibliographic references.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements summarized in the Author Guidelines, which appear in About the Journal.

UDA Law Review maintains an open and inclusive editorial policy that encourages participation from law students, faculty, researchers, and legal practitioners across diverse institutions. Our journal operates under an Open Access model, guaranteeing no Article Processing Charges (APCs) and complete free access for both authors and readers.

Authors who publish with UDA Law Review retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication. Any subsequent reproduction must properly credit the original publication in this journal.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

Collection and Use of Personal Data

In compliance with transparency and editorial management standards, UDA Law Review collects only the personal data necessary to identify researcher authorship and institutional affiliation. Upon publication, the following data will be publicly accessible alongside the article:

  • Full first and last names.
  • Institutional affiliation (spelled out without acronyms), city, and country.
  • Institutional email address and ORCID iD.

Any other personal data distinct from those specified above will be safeguarded by the journal and will not be disclosed or transferred to third parties without the express consent of the individual concerned.

Confidentiality in the Review Process

The journal guarantees complete anonymity and confidentiality throughout the peer review process:

  • Author and Reviewer Identity: Under the double-blind review system, author identities are unknown to reviewers, and reviewer identities are unknown to authors.
  • Unpublished Content: External reviewers and Editorial Board members are strictly prohibited from using unpublished manuscripts for personal or professional gain, as well as using artificial intelligence tools that could compromise research privacy during evaluation.

Security on the OJS Platform

Data management is conducted through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, ensuring a secure record of the editorial workflow. UDA Law Review utilizes digital preservation systems and regular backups hosted within Universidad del Azuay's technological infrastructure to guarantee information integrity and disaster recovery.
