Abstract

This article presents a review of some conceptual frameworks drawn from Michel Foucault’s work, which may have methodological and analytical applications in socio-legal research. An illustrative explanation of notions such as “discourse”, “archeology”, “genealogy”, “power”, “government” and “governmentality” is made, in order to introduce the reader to Foucault’s thinking and suggest possible uses of his work in critical legal research with empirical
components.
